BEST HOTELS IN PUNO

TITILAKA

LUXURY LAKESIDE RETREAT

LUXURY LAKESIDE RETREAT

Five-star boutique Titilaka is the smartest hotel in Lake Titicaca. Set on a private peninsula overlooking the lake’s deep blue waters, this is an all-inclusive luxury resort that offers gourmet dining and a wide range of authentic activities. Excursions are arranged on a shared-basis, with the option to upgrade and privatize guiding. Cruise to scenic islands, bike or hike through typical rural villages, kick back in style to catch the sunset with a cocktail in hand and curl up in one of the 18 lake-view rooms during an escape to the world’s higest navigable lake.

The high-altitude hotel has prime position on a quiet corner on the lake – a one hour drive from the city of Puno, where most hotels in Lake Titicaca are clustered. It takes around one hour to drive to Titilaka from Puno Train Station and two hours from the nearest airport, Juliaca, with direct flights to Lima and Cusco. The Bolivian border is a two hour drive away – it is perfectly possible to reach Bolivia’s capital by road the same day.

Though relatively isolated and a world away from the trappings of modern development, the hotel is located among a rural community. As such, you might expect to see locals fishing in wooden boats, working the land or relaxing on a nearby secluded beach. Given the range of activities included at the hotel and the relative time needed to reach the property, a two nights minimum stay is strongly recommended – three is ideal.

AMANTICA LODGE

TWO-BEDROOM PRIVATE VILLA

TWO-BEDROOM PRIVATE VILLA

Perched on a quiet edge of Amantanti Island on Lake Titicaca, Amantica Lodge is a stylish and exclusive private two-bed villa. An idyllic retreat, perfect for romantic getaways or family relaxation, Amantica effortlessly blends chic contemporary European style with natural, local materials that are in keeping with the essence of the stunning natural landscape. The luxury private villa comprises two tasteful bedrooms connected by a shared bathroom. The views are breathtaking: the location is perfect for blissful relaxation, or as a launch pad to discover traditional lifestyles on Lake Titicaca.

SUASI LODGE

ECO-ISLAND GETAWAY

ECO-ISLAND GETAWAY

This 23 Superior Room lodge, sitting on the private 45-hectare Suasi Island on the northern shores of Lake Titicaca, is an explorer and nature enthusiast’s ideal location. Suasi Lodge, built with adobe and thatched with native high altitude grass called ichu, is rustic and charming, allowing guests to become more in tune with the environment that surrounds them.

This ecolodge is one of the most environmentally forward-thinking accommodations in Lake Titicaca, completely powered by solar energy. It is first and foremost an ecological haven focused on preserving the flora and fauna native to the region. Through extensive preservation efforts, it has become a nature-enthusiast’s dream.

All rooms are equipped with skylights and balconies that offer a breathtaking view of the lake, warm beds and pressurized oxygen upon request. The Andean Cottage, set down on the shores of the island away from the main accommodation building, has a privileged vantage point. It consists of a private, two-bedroom suite with a living room, bar, jacuzzi tub, two fireplaces, a private beach and pier and round-the-clock butler service.

The restaurant offers excellent dining options including artisan pizzas and traditional Andean fare made with ingredients that are locally sourced. The Lodge has a small spa, as well as a games room with a pool table. Due to its remote location, wifi connection is relatively slow.

Suasi Island is the ideal place to relax and appreciate your natural surrounds. The island is small and private – there are no inhabitants on the island asides the hotel.  Most activities are included in your room rate and are guide-led. A highlight is to take a short walk to the hilltop for spectacular views come sunset. Other options include kayaking and beachside BBQs. Boat trips around the island can also be arranged (supplement price usually applies). The affable owner lives in her family home on the island and has developed an extensive collection of books and maps which can be seen in the visitor center.

The opportunities for inspiration are endless here on this peaceful, meditative island. One of the top accommodations in Lake Titicaca, Suasi Lodge is ideal for those looking to get back to nature and unwind.

GHL HOTEL LAGO TITICACA

VIEWS OF LAKE TITICACA

Located on Esteves Island in the bay of Puno, the 123-room Libertador Lake Titicaca is 45 minutes from the Manco Capac airport. Situated directly on Lake Titicaca, the hotel features beautiful views and a pier for easy access to navigate around the lake.

Guests can enjoy the sunrise from one of two room types, superior rooms with one or two beds and which can be adjoining, or larger junior suites that have a bedroom and a dining-living room. If space is an issue, we suggest the junior suites, as the standard superior room can be small for some. A breakfast buffet at Los Uros restaurant is included in the rates, which offers another opportunity to enjoy the panoramic views of the lake. Also, guests can make use of complimentary Wifi throughout the hotel as well as 24 hour room service.

CASA ANDINA PREMIUM PUNO

LUXURY BY THE LAKE

LUXURY BY THE LAKE

One of many accommodations in the Casa Andina Premium, Casa Andina Premium Puno is located just outside of Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca at 3,800 meters above sea level. The majority of the hotel’s 46 rooms, as well as the gourmet restaurant, feature extraordinary views of the lake, a perk of its privileged location. The attractively rustic hotel is both subtle and harmoniously complements the beautiful natural landscape in which it is located, embracing local building materials, wood and clay tiles, and stone fireplaces. It also conveniently has its own private train stop, allowing guests traveling from Cusco aboard the Andean Explorer to arrive directly at their hotel. Although rustic in appearance, accommodations feature modern amenities like Wi-Fi and jacuzzi tubs.

Guests can also request oxygen ensuite to aid in the adjustment to the high altitude, a characteristic unique to this specific Puno hotel. Perfect for families, the hotel’s newest wing provides ease of access with adjoining rooms. Enjoy breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant, Alma, which features local cuisine and regional ingredients before embarking from its own private pier to set off to explore Lake Titicaca.
