4.- ADVENTURE SPORTS IN CUSCO: BOATING ON THE VILCANOTA RIVER
Without a doubt, one of the most important rivers in Cusco is the Vilcanota, or also called Urubamba (in another section), since they record large sections of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The currents that this magnificent river has offer the ideal conditions for boating or rafting. Difficulty levels, according to the area of the river where this adventure sport is practiced in Cusco, problems from 3 to 5 on a scale of 0-5. The river tour can last 2 hours on average. Although it is not necessary to have experience because it has all the corresponding security measures, it takes courage to surrender to the river current. Tours are hired in Cusco or online and include transportation, equipment, lunch and tour guide.
Keep in mind that the rainy season, which runs from october to march is the most recommended for those travelers who do have rafting experience. Meanwhile, from april to september the river is lower, therefore less abundant.
