Ancascocha Treks

The Ancascocha trek is an alternative hike to the sacred Inca city of Machu Picchu. It is a walk that is organized from the city of Cusco, then you will go by private transportation to the town of Soqma, one of the most picturesque villages that still maintain their local customs and traditions of growing corn, potatoes, and Andean cereals. Together with our local guides you will travel along an ancient Inca path that goes to the archaeological complex of Perolniyoc, which is located on a rock promontory, on one side is the waterfall of the same name, providing a unique harmony to the landscape of the Incas.

During the Inca era, this sanctuary was used for astronomical purposes and for worshiping the mountains and gods of the Incas. Currently you can visit the temples of the sun, the moon, and finely decorated stone altars, facing the sunrise. Very close is the community of Markhuray, a settlement of very friendly shepherds and farmers where you spend the first night enjoying the beautiful skies, full of stars and constellations of the Incas.

In the following days our expeditionists will tour the Huayanay mountain range, and its beautiful Ancascocha lagoon, and will also reach the first section of the famous Inca trail to Machu Picchu, which hides the best monuments of the Andean civilization. To finish this fabulous tour you will travel by train from Ollantaytambo to the town of Aguas Calientes where you can relax in its hot spring pools. The last day is the most important day since you will be able to see the mythical Inca citadel of Machu Picchu, together with your guide you will take a guided tour of the most important sites.
