Ausangate Treks

The Ausangate Trek is the best tourist destination in the Cusco region, for hiking, camping, climbing the snow-capped peaks, rural and community tourism in its different valleys and mountain ranges. The glaciers of the Ausangate mountain range will enchant you with their magnificent sunsets. Currently there are many routes to visit this natural landscape, one of the most visited is the 3-day tour which includes a visit to the famous 7-color mountain Vinicunca. On this short route you can explore the paths of the ancient Incas, who had already conquered these cold mountains. The best season to explore these routes of the Andes is from April to October, when the rainy seasons have passed. In this season you can enjoy the wonderful colorful potato fields, wild flowers, quinoa crops, corn, beans and fields radiating with greenery. A very important aspect is to come very well equipped, with good sleeping bags, excellent trekking shoes, and warm clothing. Since the cold is very strong in this region, normally during the night the temperature drops to -8 C°. You should also bring good hiking poles, as they will help you on the ascents and descents.
